ÉLISABETH RAPHAËL

Born in 1958, Elisabeth Raphaël lives and works in Paris. Doctor in contemporary history, specialist in China, she first had a career as a political and strategic analyst of contemporary China. In 2003, she engages in artistic work. Her sculptures and installations of earth, steel, lead, wood, fabric, video, soundtrack, and white porcelain sheets often stamped with biblical texts, intend to question, to move, to allow us perhaps to reconnect with the sense of our humanity deeply hurt after Auschwitz.
Winner of the Biennale Internationale de Vallauris in 2012 in the sculpture section, she exhibits regularly in Paris and has presented her work in New York, Chicago, Beijing, London, Tel Aviv. It is present in several public collections, including the Magnelli Museum in Vallauris and the Yad Vashem Art Museum in Jerusalem.
